Lemon | The versatile ingredient

Lemon is one of my favourite ingredient. I have listed 6 reasons why you should always have lemons at home.

1 - Morning beverage.

An healthy way to start the day! Drink lemon water in the morning to flush out toxins, boost immune system, help control blood pressure...the benefit’s list goes on and on.

2- Best sauce.

The best sauce you could have. Lemon juice (and zest) will give a delicious twist to any of your recipes: avocado toast, sauteed prawns, dressing, lemon curd, hummus…

3- Remove bad smell.

Lemon is one of the best natural option to remove bad smell off your hands. Open a lemon in half, scrub your hands with it (like a soap) and rinse. Very handy when you cook fish, garlic or spicy food for example.

4- Prevent browning.

Use lemons to prevent apples and avocado from browning. Use the lemon juice over both to avoid browning. This is a great tip to keep your salads and guacamole looking fresh for as long as possible.

5- Beauty routine.

Whiten your nails with lemon or use it into homemade beauty recipes. Combine lemon juice with other natural ingredients for reducing pimples, skin whitening and degreasing oily skin. My favourite face/hair mask is made from honey, olive oil and LEMON.

6- Cook it!

When life gives you lemons, eat them! Roast a whole fish with a few slices of lemon. Deglaze a pan with the juice. Make marmalade from the flesh and peel. Stuff chicken with them before roasting. yum!

Lemons will generally keep well at room temperature for about 7 days, and in the fridge for a couple of weeks. Make sure to buy organic/unwaxed lemons in order to get the best benefits from it.

Let me know in the comment below what's your favourite ingredient. I love to hear from you.
